RICHARD SUTTON
Sleepy Dust
By Richard Sutton
My eyelids peel apart
My body feels sore
Just lying here, I do not move
Not until I fall
Fall into this sickly state
and can't take anymore
I move, but I’m still not awake,
I just fall to the floor
The more sleep I get, the more dozy my head
I’m dreaming my life away
Like a drug, it pulls me apart
And it's here to stay
The more sleep I get, the more deeper I'm led
Into this curse, that keeps me in bed
It hunts me at night
It drains me all day
I’ve got to wipe, my sleepy dust away
All day I’m in a hazy dream
I can’t focus my mind
I try to express my thoughts
But fail every time
There's no point, in living this way
I’ve got to break these chains
And kill that incessant plague
That’s pumping through my veins
The more sleep I get, the more dozy my head
I’m dreaming my life away
Like a drug, it pulls me apart
And it's here to stay
The more sleep I get, the more deeper I'm led
Into this curse, that keeps me in bed
It hunts me at night
It drains me all day
I’ve got to wipe, my sleepy dust away
When it seems, I’ve found the cure
And the evil is slain
I've let my guard down, I’ve opened the gates
And now it's back again
It's back again
It's back again
It's back again
